Welcome to the Department of Dental Public Health (DPH) at the Faculty of Dentistry at King
Abdulaziz University web page. In 2013/14 academic year, Our Department has been
established as an independent department. Before that it was a division of the department of
preventive dentistry.
Currently, The DPH Department has 12 full-time faculty and 14 demonstrators completing their
postgraduate training in different disciplines of Public Health Dentistry.
The Department has a diverse postgraduate experience. From top schools in North America,
Scandinavia, and Europe. Also, the diverse research portfolio of the existing faculty ranges from
Cancer research, Oral health burden, Workforce in Dentistry, GIS and Oral Health, Global Health
issues, Maternal and Child Health, as well as Oral Health Literacy, and others.
On the educational level, Nearly 400 students between undergrad and postgrad dental student
are taking courses within the department each year.
On the Public Health level, Each year the department conduct and reach out for at least 6000
students ,both males and females, in different age groups for oral health awareness and
prevention programs. In addition to participation in many other local, regional, and global
awareness programs.
The Department of DPH uphold the university’s highest academic standards, emphasizing the
values of community health, discovery, diversity, mentorship, and professionalism.
We are in final stages of starting our postgraduate program where we will seek new ways to
mentor young learners and to develop future leaders in Public Health Dentistry. Through
collaboration and teamwork in partnership with others (Nationally and Internationally).
The mission of our department is to provide dental public health practitioners for the academic
world as well as the practice of dental public health fields in the government and private
sectors where we serve the 2030 vision of the Kingdom. We hope the provided information
